CWT: A magazine for potato heads

CWT: A magazine for potato heads

During my entire creative career, I've always wanted to design and publish a magazine. I didn't care what the subject matter was, I only knew that someday, it would happen.

The dream arrived a couple of years ago.

Our client AMVAC, a maker of products for potato growers, wanted to establish a closer relationship with the industry. After much research and discussion, we proposed a magazine instead of some kind of digital campaign. It would be a tabloid-size magazine with great paper, beautiful photography, and compelling articles about the world of potatoes with no advertising. Simply, here's some cool stuff that we thought you'd like to know about. The client's name would be placed discreetly on the back cover as publisher. We wanted to create a magazine that wouldn't be thrown away.

Hey, potatoes are interesting. You can feature potato stories about nature, water conservation, science, nutrition, the people who grow them and the people who eat them. And readers would love the magazine. And they do. And so do the award show judges.

Many thanks to the team, especially Katana Ewbank, Janine Smiley, Gaige Larson, Jori Rose, Michael Head, and AMVAC.
